How to set the parameters of laser cleaning graffiti

Oct 31, 2024

When laser cleaning graffiti, the key parameters to be considered include laser wavelength, energy density, pulse times, cleaning speed and so on. Here are the recommended parameter settings based on search results:

Laser wavelength: the choice of laser wavelength has an important impact on the cleaning effect. The shorter the wavelength, the smaller the minimum energy density required to produce the cleaning effect, so it is advisable to choose a shorter wavelength to obtain a thorough cleaning effect.

Energy density: The peak cleaning force per unit area increases linearly with the energy density. Only when the energy density reaches a certain value can the cleaning effect be produced. This energy density is the threshold at which a laser beam at that wavelength starts to produce a cleaning effect.

Pulse times: Under the irradiation of pulsed laser beams above the energy density threshold, the cleanliness of the surface of the object increases with the increase of pulse times. In order to avoid damage to the surface of the cleaned object, low energy density and increased pulse times can be used to obtain high cleanliness.

Cleaning speed: The cleaning speed will affect the contact time between the laser and the graffiti, which in turn will affect the cleaning effect. Need to be adjusted according to the specific performance of the laser device and the specific circumstances of the graffiti

Laser power: Laser power settings can range from 0-100%, depending on the type of graffiti and the underlying material.

Laser frequency: The laser frequency can be set between 1-4000Khz, the specific frequency needs to be determined according to the internal instructions of the laser.

Laser pulse width: the laser pulse width is recommended to be set between 2-500ns, the specific pulse width needs to refer to the internal instructions of the laser.

Scan Amplitude: Scan amplitude should be less than 200mm, and can be adjusted to adapt to different sizes of graffiti area

Longitudinal speed and longitudinal amplitude: These parameters characterize the speed and height of the laser head movement and can be adjusted according to actual needs.

Lateral width and fill height: These parameters characterize the coverage and depth of laser cleaning, which also need to be adjusted according to the actual situation.

Please note that these parameter settings are based on general recommendations and may need to be adapted to the specific laser cleaning equipment and graffiti situation in practice.
