Which laser cleaning machines are cold lasers and which are hot lasers?

May 21, 2024

Laser cleaning machines are non-contact cleaning equipment that use laser technology to clean the surface of objects. In laser cleaning machines, two types of lasers, cold laser and hot laser, can usually be used. Their working principles and application scenarios during the cleaning process are different.

Cold laser refers to the low energy density laser used in laser cleaning machines. During the cleaning process, this laser mainly absorbs the surface, causing the pollutant molecules to be excited by light energy, thus destroying their chemical bonds and achieving the cleaning effect. Cold laser cleaning is suitable for fragile materials and objects with high surface sensitivity requirements, such as glass, ceramics, etc. It effectively removes surface contaminants without causing thermal damage to the object itself.

Thermal laser refers to the high energy density laser used in laser cleaning machines. This kind of laser mainly achieves the cleaning effect through the photothermal effect during the cleaning process. The laser beam focuses on the tiny spot area formed on the surface of the object, generating instantaneous high temperature, causing the pollutants to boil, vaporize and escape from the surface of the object.

Thermal laser cleaning is suitable for cleaning solid contaminants or rough surfaces, such as oil stains, particles, etc. on metal surfaces. The choice of cold laser and hot laser in a laser cleaning machine depends on the characteristics and needs of the cleaning object. For fragile objects, cold laser cleaning is a safer and more suitable option because it does not generate heat. For more solid contaminants or surfaces, thermal laser cleaning can complete the cleaning task more quickly and efficiently. According to the required cleaning effect and object characteristics, choosing the appropriate laser type is the key to ensuring cleaning quality. There are both cold lasers and hot lasers in laser cleaning machines. Cold lasers are suitable for cleaning fragile materials and objects with high surface sensitivity, while hot lasers are suitable for cleaning solid contaminants or rough surfaces. Choosing the appropriate laser type can effectively ensure cleaning results and avoid unnecessary damage to objects.
