High temperature and high humidity environments may cause harm to the use of lasers. In hot and humid seasons, the temperature and humidity of the environment where the laser is located increase, especially in the rainy season in the central and eastern and southern regions, the use environment of the laser will be affected to varying degrees. According to experience in using lasers, using lasers in a hot and humid environment for a long time will accelerate the aging of the internal components of the laser, and even cause condensation, causing irreversible damage to optical and electronic devices.
How does the condensation phenomenon of lasers occur?
During the use of lasers, an external cooling system is required to control the temperature of the laser. When the external ambient temperature and humidity reach too high, the water in the air is saturated. Since the surface temperature of the laser is lower than the dew point temperature of the nearby air, the surface will condense the water in the air and attach it to the laser, and condensation will occur. Condensation does not necessarily occur only on the outer surface of the laser. The components and optical devices inside the laser are also at risk of condensation.
The impact of condensation environment on lasers
Causes short circuit and damage to electrical components After condensation occurs in the laser, electrical components are very likely to short-circuit. There are many circuit boards and electrical modules inside the laser. Short circuits will cause damage to the circuit boards and modules, and in severe cases, the entire laser will be scrapped.
Causes changes in laser output power and spot pattern and even damage to optical lenses. There are many reflective and transmissive optical devices used to transmit lasers inside the laser. When these optical devices condense, the laser spot pattern through the cooling water will be severely deformed, affecting the processing effect and efficiency. The condensed lens itself is also very easy to be damaged during the laser transmission process.
How to prevent laser condensation
The condensation phenomenon is caused by the low temperature of the laser under the action of the external chiller, and the large temperature difference with the ambient temperature and high air humidity. Therefore, controlling the temperature and humidity of the environment can effectively avoid the occurrence of laser condensation. The specific methods are as follows:
1.Provide an independent air-conditioning space environment for the laser to reduce the dew point temperature. Ensure that the temperature of the laser is close to the ambient temperature. (For example, if the temperature of the laser external chiller is set to 25 degrees, the ambient temperature should be controlled at 23-27 degrees)
2.In an environment with excessive humidity, install a dehumidifier in the laser operating space to reduce the ambient humidity. (It is recommended to control the humidity to less than 50%)
Other precautions
In addition to the temperature and humidity of the environment, in order to ensure the stable operation of the laser, the cleanliness of the environment and the protective gas are also required. Providing a clean operating environment for the laser helps protect the laser's optical devices.
