Difference Between Pulsed Laser Cleaning Machine and Continuous Laser

Oct 25, 2024

There are some differences between pulse laser cleaners and continuous laser cleaners in terms of working principle, cleaning effect, application scenarios and cost-effectiveness:
1. How it works:
· Pulse Laser Cleaners output laser energy in the form of pulses. That is, they generate high-energy laser pulses for a short period of time and focus them onto the surface that needs to be cleaned. This cleaning method has high peak power and short pulse width, which can quickly peel off dirt, oxides, coatings, etc., and has no damage or minimal damage to the substrate.
· Continuous laser cleaning machine output laser energy in the form of continuous wave, that is, continuously output laser. This cleaning method is suitable for scenes where there is slight contamination of the surface or a large area needs to be cleaned, and the cleaning effect is relatively mild, but it may cause the substrate temperature to be too high or cause micro-melting.
2. Cleaning effect:
· Pulse laser cleaning machine due to its instantaneous high energy characteristics, can more accurately control the cleaning process, suitable for the surface has more serious pollution or need high precision cleaning scene, such as mold cleaning.
· Continuous laser cleaning machine is more suitable for rough processing or large-scale cleaning tasks, such as rust removal and cleaning of large equipment, which has high cleaning efficiency, but may cause some micro-damage to the substrate.
3. Application scenarios:
· Pulse laser cleaning machines are widely used for metal surface cleaning, which can remove stains and dirt on metal surfaces and reduce the thickness of paint and coatings. They are suitable for application scenarios with high precision, requiring strict control of substrate heating, and requiring non-destructive substrate, such as mold cleaning.
· Continuous laser cleaning machine is mainly used to clean the plastic surface, can remove the stains and dirt on the plastic surface, suitable for large steel structures, pipes, etc., due to large volume and fast heat dissipation, the substrate damage requirements are not high application scenarios.
4. Cost-effective:
· The initial investment in pulsed laser cleaners may be higher, but long-term operating costs are lower due to their high efficiency, low maintenance requirements and long service life.
· CW laser cleaners have a lower initial cost, but may incur higher long-term operating costs due to frequent maintenance and replacement of consumables.

In general, pulse laser cleaning machine and continuous laser cleaning machine have their own advantages, and the choice needs to be considered according to the specific cleaning needs, material type, cost budget and environmental impact.
